Edward Myers

Assistant Chief Myers has been with the Sauk Village Fire Department for 33 years.
Starting in 1971, Ed worked his way up through the ranks and has been the Assistant Chief for almost 3 years.
As Assistant Chief, Ed is third in command.
Ed is in charge of department operations, which oversees vehicle and equipment maintenance.
Ed is also the department's Chief Arson Investigator and is also certified to work with Juvenile Fire Setters.
AC Myers sits on 2 state boards. He's on the Arson Investigators Re-certification Board and the IL Firefighters Association Board of Directors.
Since becoming a fire investigator, Ed has investigated over 2000 fires. His worst experience has been investigating fire related fatalities. He has been the Chief Investigator on every fire fatality in Sauk Village.
His best experience has been to grow with the fire department and becoming Assistant Chief.
Ed has also been privileged to see his two sons follow in his footsteps. His oldest son, Phil, started out as a cadet with Sauk Village and is now a career firefighter with Park Forest. Paul is Ed's youngest son who also started with Sauk Village as a cadet and is now an engineer on the department.
Ed says the secret to making it in the fire service is training and common sense.
Besides the fire service, Ed worked for Sauk Village for 18 years as a building and code enforcement officer before taking a code enforcement position with the Steger Police Department where he's currently employed
