Rosie Williams was elected to the board of trustees at the age of 23, in 2005. Upon her winning the election, she became
the first African American ever elected to an office in Sauk Village. Rosie has been a resident of Sauk Village for 19 years.
She volunteered at the McConathy Public library for 5 years prior to her three years of employment there. She was a Girl Scout
for 11 years and a leader for 3 years. She attended Wagoner, Rickover and Bloom Trail Schools. Upon graduation from Bloom
Trail, she chose to further her education, graduating from De Paul University in 2003 with a Bachelor's of Arts in Psychology
focusing on human development. Currently she works in Market Research.
**She decided to run for trustee because she feels that people her age are underrepresented in our area. Many individuals
her age and younger are often overlooked in society at large. She intends to educate others of the power individuals possess.
**The most important issue she feels needs to be addressed is the lack of youth programs in the Village. Our children
and teens do not have anything to do in our community. The sports and recreation committee is a wonderful asset to us, but
they are only given a limited amount of funds to handle all of the programs available to the village children. Unfortunately,
these programs are not enough for the growing number of children in our area. Many of our children are leaving Sauk Village
to participate in sports programs in Steger and Indiana.
During her term as Trustee, she hopes to make the Village and the community at large more compatible with each other.
She hopes to accomplish this goal with the help of her position as chair of the Public Relations/ Website Committee.
