As a suburban community on the edge of the Chicago metropolitan area, Sauk Village has great access to the open spaces that support recreation opportunities. These including the following:
- 15 minute drives to 4 golf courses geared to all skill levels, including the Lincoln Oaks, Deer Creek, Olympia Fields and Flossmoor golf courses
- Its own Sauk Village recreation center
- Organized youth sports leagues
- Cook County Forest Preserve with long, scenic hiking and biking and cross-country ski trails (including the 1.8 mile Plum Creek Meadow trail and 630 acres
Last but not least, Sauk Village is a 30 minute drive to one of the premier recreation sites in the midwest, the Indiana Dunes National Park situated on the shores of Lake Michigan.
Sauk Village is a regional transportation hub with excellent north/south and east/west connections.
- The principal north/south route is Illinois 394, which is a high capacity, high speed road that gives seamless access to I-94 and I-294/I-80 and features 30,700 vehicles per day on average (IDOT).
- Sauk Trail and Lincoln Highway are the primary east/west arterial road with connections to Indiana and Will County, averaging 14,000 vehicles on Sauk Trail and 16,000 on Lincoln Highway (IL-30) per day.
